Master and crew satisfied !
« Val was
during his stay in an exceptional teammate: always ready to do the required
service or even just desired, quickly and efficiently; with extreme curiosity,
he learned the basics of cruising in record time while the weather was
sometimes stormy; joviality and sense of community are making him a charming

I crewed on Andre's 41ft Hunter S/V between Guadeloupe and Sint Maarten via Antigua and other gorgeous stops in March 2016.
The experience was not only unique but invaluable in growing my sailing and cruising skills along with experiencing the true beauty of the ocean and islands.
From cruising preparations to itinerary planning, boat maintenance, tight docking maneuvers, meal preparation either docked or under sail, night anchoring, sailing in any wind and weather conditions, and long passages including night navigation, Andre is a true captain in the deep sense of the word. His sailing experience and knowledge are extensive and I am thankful that he took the time to show and teach me various skills throughout the journey. He is very focused and strongly emphasizes safety first. He knows his boat extremely well, possesses impressive troubleshooting skills, and is willing to repair anything as needed.

Arc 1500 - départ retardé
Reçu ce matin l'information d'un report du départ à mardi :
"We have now officially delayed the start of the 2015 Caribbean 1500/ARC Bahamas. There are strong northeasterly winds anticipated in the Gulf Stream tomorrow, but furthermore, the National Hurricane Center now has a 50% chance of a tropical low developing on Sunday into Monday/Tuesday. So, while we’d love nothing more than to get the fleet to sea, we’ve got to take the prudent decision and sit tight to see what the topics has in store for us"

Security inspection
Voilà la visite s'est rapidement déroulée. Un ou deux conseils mais pas de remarques.
Le numéro 44 nous est donc attribué et une balise Yellow Brick nous "filera".

ARC CARIBBEAN 1500 : l'équipage s'étoffe
Nous sommes désormais trois à nous embarquer pour ce périple océanique d'une douzaine de jours sans escale, de Porstsmouth (Virgine, USA) à Nanni Cay (Tortola, British Virgin Islands) : Rafael (Can.), Dominique (Fr.) et moi-même André (Belg.).
Il reste une à 2 places pour embarquer dans cette aventure organisée par le World Cruising Club, plus connu pour l' ATLANTIC RALLY FOR CRUISERS (ARC), Gran Canaria - Saint Lucia.

Globalement ignorée par les médias de la plaisance en Europe, cette convention s'y applique néanmoins, avec un durcissement dans les "zones spéciales" Mer du Nord, Manche, Mediterranée, où le minimum de distance pour un rejet "poubelles" est de 12nm avec fragmentation à moins de 25mm!
